How to create a Ledger account that Easy Crypto can send to

Bitcoin wallets have three primary types of addresses, the original legacy format and two newer segwit formats.

Due to the fact that most exchanges can only send to two of these address types at the moment and the Ledger by default uses the address format that exchanges can't send to - you are going to need to create a new wallet account on your Ledger that uses an address we can send to.

(scroll down to the bottom for a rundown on how to do this)

The three main types of Bitcoin wallets:

P2PKH Addresses:

This address is a legacy address, and it always starts with the number '1' at the start of the address. This address can be used to send Bitcoin from Easy Crypto's exchanging directly to your Ledger.

P2SH Addresses:

P2SH addressed always start with the number '3', and you can also send Bitcoin directly from Easy Crypto to this address format.

P2WPKH Addresses:

This is the default Ledger Bitcoin wallet format, but you can't send Bitcoin directly from Easy Crypto to these addresses, as exchanges do not currently support these yet. They always start with 'bc1', and there is a way to create P2PKH and P2SH addresses on your Ledger. 🙂
